Care for MYO cards

Protect the antenna and use a holder instead of punching holes.

What is inside a card?

An NFC card contains a chip and an antenna. The original community demonstration shone a light through a card to show their position; it was not a real X-ray.

The illustration shows one example. Antenna layouts can differ, so the picture is not a template for cutting or drilling another card.

Avoid holes and sharp bends

Punching a hole can cut the antenna or weaken the surrounding plastic. Bending, splitting or heat can also damage a card. A non-invasive sleeve or card holder is a better way to attach it to a lanyard or storage ring.

If a card stops reading

Try a known working card in the same player, then test the affected card with a phone NFC reader. Change one thing at a time so you can distinguish a player, linking or physical-card problem. If it is an official card, use Yoto support for replacement advice.

See scanning tips before assuming that a difficult scan means a card is broken.
