Scope of this guide
Official Yoto MYO cards provide the supported linking route. This article preserves community findings about alternative cards and a copy-tag workflow. The reported Yoto compatibility dates to 2024–2025; it is not a guarantee for current players, firmware or a vendor's current stock.
Choose the chip, then test
The original reports used MIFARE Ultralight EV1 cards with 48 bytes of user memory. NXP documents 48-byte and 128-byte variants; that confirms the memory distinction, not Yoto compatibility. Consult NXP's product documentation, inspect the received tags with a reader and test one sample before buying a batch. A generic NFC or NTAG label is not enough to establish compatibility.
Old vendor prices and the blanket PVC safety claim have been removed. Check the actual product materials and intended use with its manufacturer. Mark alternative cards so they remain distinguishable from official cards.
Original MYO copy workflow
Use only a MYO playlist and cards you control. Do not copy an official paid-content card or publish a private card URL.
- Link your own playlist to an official MYO card using the Yoto app.
- Play it on each intended player while online and allow its audio download to complete.
- In NXP TagWriter, select the tag-copy operation. Read the MYO donor card, then write to a blank compatible recipient and follow the verification prompt.
- Read the recipient back and test playback on each intended player. Keep the original working MYO card until all checks pass.
The old article reported that copied cards depended on audio already downloaded to the player and did not support radio/podcast streams. Test those limits on your devices rather than assuming the recipient behaves like an official MYO card. Do not permanently lock a test tag.
Review limits
The chip specifications were checked against NXP documentation in November 2026. This migration did not perform a new physical-card or player-firmware compatibility test. Report the chip type, player model and firmware with any new findings, without exposing protected scan URLs.
